Jolly Good Lördag – May

Sunshine, books, vases, airplants, natural dyed textiles and a lot of prints! It was a very nice #jollygoodlördag and here are some pictures for you that live too far away to come by in person ; )

We served the kids with a lots of cork cubes to build and play with.

The print we call Allemansrätten on the wall. Yes we´re open!

Aeroteket brought a lot of nice airplants and ceramic bowls that are a perfect match with our Concrete Bowl #1 :-).

Scandinaviaform‘s vases look great even without flowers in them!

Slightly imperfect cork cubes from our Urban Cube Calendar are recycled as toys.

Birds Formation

A formation of birds. A lot of birds fly over our home,
it’s something that we are very happy about and we managed to capture a few of them.

The freedom to roam, or everyman’s right (Allemansrätten) is the general public’s right to access certain public or privately owned land for recreation and exercise. The right is sometimes called the right of public access to the wilderness or the right to roam. (Wikipedia) This print is our celebration to and reminder of Allemansrätten!

The poster is screen printed by hand in black and white on brownish paper. The paper is made out of recycled paper and rests from paper production (“kvistmassa”) so the look of the paper vary and can change color slightly . Also available on our standard paper Munken Pure (off white) were the text is printed in grey. You can have a look at it in the shop.

Exhibition at manos!

Manos in Stockholm started to sell our handprinted baby cloths many years ago. We love their mix of design and craft, actually they were our first reseller ever which makes them extra special. This spring we had the opportunity to hold an exhibition at manos and meet a lot of old and new friends.

Arvo

Ten years ago, when we started screen printing together, Esa played around with roots. It became prints on some t-shirts with roots in different compositions. One of them was a play with the similarity between roots and hair, a calm man with a long beard of roots and eyes made of the letters a and p.

When we started to think of all the old prints we have left behind, we felt that we really wanted to give “Arvo” a second life. This time we worked further on the shape of the beard to get it look more like the real Arvo beard sitting on the chin of Arvo Pärt (one of our favorite composers in terms of modern classical music). This is not supposed to look like a portrait (as you see) but we think it turned out pretty well and gives, at least us, a feeling of Arvo Pärt and his music.

Hemp

A few weeks ago, while visiting Mossagårdsfestivalen, we bought a 100% hemp shirt which really felt nice, like linen. It’s going to be interesting to see how it ages.

Industrial Hemp or “hemp”, can provide many of the raw materials we need as a society to function. Hemp food, hemp oil, hemp plastics, hemp insulation, hemp concrete, hemp paper, and other hemp composites all available today! And yes, the list goes on and on. Plus, Hemp is both Eco-friendly and Renewable. Hemp is one of the fastest growing plants in the world producing about 10 tons of dry product per acre per year. Hemp was one of the first plants to be processed and used by humans making the history of hemp over 12000 years long! Hemp Building materials are becoming more and more known and available as well!

Hemp, like flax (linen) is one of the bast fibers. When weaving with hemp yarns, you can treat it like a linen yarn, using similar setts. It improves and softens with age. Hemp is also mildew resistant, making it an excellent yarn for towels, bath linens and carpet warp as well as in fine table linens and clothing.

Kosläpp

After a winter in the barn Anders Nilsson’s cows finally came out (“kosläpp” in swedish). Some hesitated but once they stepped out into the green it was impossible to miss the joy, and we enjoyed watching them!
